Über das Projekt

LIQUID MUSIC

Liquid Music ist eine medienkünstlerische Projektreihe, die seit 1998 jährlich in Zusammenarbeit mit der Stadt Judenburg durchgeführt wird. Projektbetreiber ist Heimo Ranzenbacher.

In den vergangenen Jahren stellte Judenburg durch das Projekt Liquid Music in der steirischen Provinz die einzige Möglichkeit für KünstlerInnen dar, auf der Grundlage eines kleineren Produktionsbudgets im medienkünstlerischen Bereich kleinere Experimente und Arbeiten zu entwickeln. "Im Gegenzug" sollte in den künstlerischen Entwicklungen die Stadt eine Art Erfahrungshintergrund bilden, dh. es sollte eine Verortung künstlerischen Interesses in den Interessenlagen der Stadt geben. Dieser Modus ist für das Projekt konstitutiv. Um die zentralen Themen gruppiert sind Vorträge und kostenlose Workshops.

Die Provinz - im vollen Bedeutungsumfang des Begriffs - ist ein maßgeblicher Teil des Experiments Liquid Music. Angestrebt wird die Verwirklichung kunstrelevanter Belange auf dem Lande am Beispiel einer Modellgemeinde, an denen Künstler und die engagierte Gemeinde gleichermaßen partizipieren.

The project LIQUID MUSIC is a media art project by Heimo Ranzenbacher  in cooperation with the City of Judenburg. Its primary manifestation is the LIQUID MUSIC festival that has been staged annually since 1998. Each year, at least three project contributions are produced in conjunction with it and speakers are invited to address various aspects of the respective festival theme. Operative linkages are established by means of so-called sub-projects.

Judenburg is simultaneously the venue of and the resource of experience for LIQUID MUSIC. Just as the city is an integral part of Liquid Music, the artistic contributions are integral parts of the projects. The utopia of an identification of the city with LIQUID MUSIC is the project's programmatic aim.

The artistic contributions have either been produced expressly for LIQUID MUSIC or customized for Judenburg as "experiential resource."

The staging concept of LIQUID MUSIC provides that each artist engaged for a LIQUID MUSIC event will also be represented a second time.
